Blue Raiders drop opener to UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Middle Tennessee Softball opened the season against UC Riverside at Amy S. Harrison Field, falling 5-3 on Thursday.
After UC Riverside opened the game with two first-inning runs, a sacrifice fly by Ansley Blevins put MTSU on the scoreboard, scoring Savannah Behabetz.
Shelby Sargent then drove in a pair with a triple in the fourth inning to give the Blue Raiders their first lead of the game.
Gretchen Mead started in the circle for the Blue Raiders where she pitched 4.1 innings and gave up three runs on six hits. The Highlanders added two unearned runs while freshman Paige Connors made her MTSU debut.
