MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball (39-18) will be in the Tuscaloosa Regional in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and will take on Central Arkansas in the first round.
The first game of the tournament against Central Arkansas will be played on Friday, May 19 at 3:30 p.m. CT. Information regarding tickets and media coverage will also be announced later.
Central Arkansas (44-10) won the ASUN regular season title along with its first ASUN tournament title this season. The Blue Raiders and Bears were set to play a midweek game back in March that was canceled due to weather.
The host No. 5 overall seed Alabama (40-18) will face Long Island University (32-24) on other side of the Tuscaloosa Regional bracket.
This will be MTSU's third NCAA Softball Tournament appearance in program history. The last time was in 2018 when the Blue Raiders won the conference title as a six seed as well.
Quote from head coach Jeff Breeden
"We are glad to be the champions and represent Conference USA. We like our draw and are looking forward to getting there."
Quote from Gretchen Mead
"It's exciting seeing our name up there. That isn't something every team gets to see and we are feeling confident going into the regional."
