MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Graduate student Pavel Motl was announced as third team Academic All-America by the College Sports Communicators on Wednesday.
"Pavel is first class student-athlete and this is a credit to all his hard work both on and off the court," said MTSU Head Coach Jimmy Borendame. "Pavel has set the standard for what kind of guy we look for at Middle Tennessee. I am extremely proud of him."
Motl earned a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a degree in Sport Management and Industry. Pavel has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team twice in his career. In his five years as a Blue Raider, the graduate student from the Czech Republic is a two-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, two-time C-USA Academic Medal recipient and a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete.
On the court this season, Motl tallied a singles record of 17-5 and a doubles record of 20-5. His 20 doubles wins led the team and the 17 singles wins had him tied for third-most.
