Men's Tennis earned a total of 57 ATP points throughout the summer

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Coming off a season in which the men clinched their fourth Conference title in a row, the Middle Tennessee men's tennis current roster and alumni haven't slowed down on the summer circuit, keeping their skills sharp and pulling off wins against ranked world opponents. Goblueraiders.com has put together a notebook of all the happenings from over the summer. Listed below are everyone's accomplishments from both the current rosters and anyone that is playing professionally.
Men's Tennis Current Roster (earned a total of 57 ATP points throughout the summer):
Ondrej Horak: Started the summer off competing in three ITF M25 tournaments. He qualified in the singles main draw at M25 Jablonec Nad Nissou in the Czech Republic. Horak made the doubles final at the M25 in Most, Czech Republic beating the ATP #402, 297, 264 and 341 players along the way. The week of July 17th, Horak passed the qualifying draw winning two matches and won his first round main draw against the ATP #1052 player, earning 1 ATP point. The following week, the rising sophomore won the doubles first round at the M25 in Kramash, Austria over the duo of the ATP #674 and a former UAB #1 doubles player. Horak played in the M25 in Bielsko Biala, Poland just before returning to classes at MTSU and qualified into the main draw in singles play and fell in three sets to the ATP #700 and made it to the semifinals in doubles by winning two rounds.
Marcel Kamrowski: The native of Poland began the summer by competing in his homeland in the Polish U23 championships in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, reaching the round of 16 in singles. While competing for the Polish team league, Kamrowski defeated the ATP #750 Pawel Cias (former ATP #393). Kamrowski played in the Polish National Championships and won in three rounds to reach the quarterfinals, beating the ATP #1165 before falling in three sets to the ATP #800. Kamrowski enjoyed more success in the Polish National League to round out July, picking up a win against Maks Kasnikowski, the ATP #308 and Roberto Marcora, the ATP #607 (formerly ATP #150). Kamrowski competed in the M25 in Lodz, Poland and qualified into the main draw and had a win against Florida Gator player Borys Zgola. Kamrowski finished off his summer competing in the challenger category 100 in Poland and fell in a hard-fought three sets to the ATP #463 6-7, 6-2, 5-7 and earned three ATP points in doubles at the M25 Poznan.
Shu Matsuoka: Matsuoka has had a tremendous amount of growth over the summer. The Japanese native started off by competing with Blue Raider teammate Ondrej Horak in the Czech Republic at the M25 before competing in Tunisia at four M15 tournaments in a row. Matsuoka made it to the final round of each of the first two tournaments, taking down the ATP #1315 and #1635. In his final tournament before returning to Japan, Matsuoka took down the ATP #1372 and won his first two rounds in the qualifying draw of the M15. Upon return to Japan, Matsuoka went 3-1 in the UTR PTT 25k in Osaka.
Karim Al-Amin: Competed in the UTR PTT in the Netherlands and competed at the M15 in Kamen, Germany to begin the summer. The New Orleans transfer competed in the German National Tournaments at the beginning of July before play in the M25 in Kramash, Austria, where he won round one in the qualification draw. Al-Amin rounded out July winning the German national tournament grade 4 Herren Einzel by winning five total matches in the tournament.
Igor Mandou: Played in the French national tournaments and put up some strong results by reaching the round of 16 in the Senior Regional Championship in France. Mandou defeated the -2/6 and -15 ranked players in France during the tournament. The freshman also picked up a win in France over the -4/6 ranked players in France later in the summer and went 1-1 in the UTR PTT 25k in Montrouge, France.
Men's Tennis Alumni in the Professional Ranks:
Stijn Slump: The recent graduate competed in the Dutch top team league and scored wins over the ATP #195 and #647. At the end of June, Slump dropped a narrow battle to the ATP #562 6-2, 4-6, 3-6 at the M15 Tournament in Alkmaar, Netherlands and followed that up with a first round win in the main draw of the M25 in Hauge, Netherlands, the following week over the ATP #700. Slump started July by winning the first two rounds of the qualifying draw at the M25 Luxembourg Open and also competed in the Dutch Open, Challenger 75 before winning three rounds in the qualification draw at the M25 in Denia, Spain to round out the month. Slump competed in early August in the M15 in Belgium where he qualified into the main draw winning three matches and earned another ATP point. Slump rounded out the hot start to his pro career this summer by earning yet another ATP point at the M25 in Belgium, defeating the ATP #518 6-0, 6-4 in the opening round of the main draw and followed that up with a return to the main draw in the M15 in Huy, Belgium, taking down the ATP #900 to get another ATP point.
Francisco Rocha: Rocha, also a recent graduate, started his professional career at the end of June by winning two qualifying rounds at M25 in Bakio, Spain as the #1 male singles player in Portugal. Rocha made the quarterfinal of the doubles tournament of the M25 and fell in the first round in the main draw in singles play. Toward the end of July, Rocha competed in the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China. In singles play, Rocha notched two wins to reach the quarterfinals and also reached the quarterfinals in doubles play while getting to the second round of mixed doubles. Rocha earned an ATP point at the M25 Inanha-a-Nova in Portugal by beating former TCU stalwart and former ITA top 10 player Luc Fomba to finish off the summer.
