Ta’Mia Scott led all scorers with 24 points
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders seemed to pick up right where they left off a season ago, kicking off their 2024-25 preseason slate with a dominant 104-66 win over the UT Southern Firehawks at the Murphy Center on Friday night.
Middle Tennessee jumped out to an early 14-7 lead midway through the opening quarter with fifth-year senior Elina Arike knocking down her first pair of attempts from the field, both from beyond the arc. MTSU would go on to lead 28-17 after the first ten minutes of game-time. Following a dominant performance in the first half, Middle Tennessee controlled a 54-33 lead going into the halftime break.
MTSU continued to control the pace of play in the third quarter, improving their lead by eight heading into the final period. The Blue Raiders outscored UT Southern 50-33 in the second half, resulting in a 104-66 win at home. Junior Guard Ta'Mia Scott ended the night with 24 points to lead all scorers, shooting 9-19 from the field, along with six rebounds and five blocks.

50 Percent: The Blue Raiders shot an even 50 percent from the field against the Firehawks, along with shooting 41 percent from three.
15: MTSU forced 15 turnovers from the Firehawks tonight, including five steals from senior guard Courtney Blakley, scoring 21 points off those turnovers.
+32: Middle Tennessee outrebounded UT Southern 58-26, including a +19 margin on the defensive end and a +13 on the offensive glass.

As an extra treat, children aged 17 and under wearing Halloween costumes will receive complimentary admission.
