Women's Tennis Hosts ITA Ohio Valley Regionals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team hosts its first tournament of the 2024 fall season with the start of the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals tomorrow at the Adams Tennis Complex.
This fall, the Blue Raiders have featured in the Miami (OH) Invite and the UT Southern Invitational, which was played at the Adams Tennis Complex last weekend. In Oxford, Middle Tennessee faced Louisville, Xavier and host Miami (OH). Graduate Alessia Truden was the standout in singles play, going 2-1 on the weekend, defeating both Xavier's Elizabeth Pendergast and Miami (OH)'s Nishitha Saravanan in straight sets.
At the UT Southern Invitational, Juniors Rutuja Chaphalkar and Karen Yibirin played in both the singles and doubles brackets. Chaphalkar went 2-1 singles, besting UT Southern's Otone Odajima and SEMO's Mia Mayerova, while Yibirin went 1-2 with a win over Blue Mountain Christian 6-1, 6-2.
Chaphalkar, Peyer, Ilaria Sposetti, Eloise Swarbrick, Truden and Yibirin will all compete in this week's regional with Truden and Sposetti featuring in the main singles draw.
The full schedule for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals will be released later today.
