Blue Raiders complete day one of CUSA Indoor Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Middle Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams completed the first day of the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Friday with multiple qualifiers for Saturday's finals.
Men's Team Score – 23 – Third Place
Women's Team Score – 41 – Third Place
Men's Top Performances
· Brady Daniels ran a personal best in the 60-meter prelims of 48.33s to qualify for finals. Daniels also qualified for the 400-meter finals with a personal best in the prelims of 48.33s.
· Brian Kiptoo placed second in the 5000-meter finals with a personal best time of 14:11.85s. Habtamu Geta placed third running a 14:24.01s. Vincent Yegon also scored in sixth place running a 14:40.99s.
· Kiptoo also placed second in the one-mile prelims to qualify for the finals with a time of 4:17.48s.
· Joel Iheakolam placed third in the long Jump with a mark of 7.22m for a new personal best.
· Geta qualified for the men's 800-meter finals running a 1:54.11s.
· Stephen Eloji qualified for the 60-meter Hurdles finals by placing second in the prelims with a 7.89s.
· Wail Bourahli qualified for his first CUSA Finals placing first in the 800-meter prelims running a 1:52.93s time.
Women's Top Performances
· Brooke Studnicki ran a personal best in the women's one-mile prelims of 4:58.76s (Q).
· In the women's long jump finals, Lyn'Nikka Vance placed second tying her personal best of 5.93m, Lakesha Smith placed third with a personal best 5.89m, and Viktoria Rusnakova placed fifth with a personal best 5.81m.
· Freshman Tamia Waters qualified for her first CUSA Finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best in the prelims of 8.53s.
· Odilia Jepchumba placed second in the 5000-meter finals with a personal best 16:46.52s.
· Pamela Milano placed second in the 800-meter with a time of 2:12.94s.
· The women's 4000 Distance Medley Relay team of Nyathi, Leonie Beu, Milano and Jepchumba placed second with a 11:37.54s time.
