Softball sweeps day two of The Spring Games

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Middle Tennessee softball (3-10) swept on Saturday at The Spring Games with two wins over St. Bonaventure and Le Moyne.
Game 1 – MTSU 9, St. Bonaventure 1
The Blue Raiders scored early with a first inning run after Shelby Echols singled and stole two bags. The Bonnies answered back in the top of the third with a run to tie the game.
MTSU was unable to capitalize in the second inning leaving the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Blue Raiders scored eight runs for the run-rule. Riley Gilmore delivered a two-run homerun to center, followed by a grand slam from Shelby Sargent that made it 9-1.
Keri Munn started in the circle throwing 4.0 innings and allowing just one run run with five strikeouts tying her career high. Kamryn Carcich entered the game in the fifth and got the win in game one.
Game 2 – MTSU 10, Le Moyne 3
MTSU scored two runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead over Le Moyne. Two more runs in the third extended the lead to four.
A three-run homerun from Carcich in the top of the fifth inning gave her 4 RBI for the game. Medlock picked up an RBI in the same inning to extend the lead 9-0 in favor of MTSU.
Le Moyne added three runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead to six and cause the Blue Raiders to make a change in the circle.
MTSU added another run in seventh on bunt from Harris that scored Sargent.
Carcich threw 5.2 innings in the win over the Dolphins before Mary Martinez took over to close out the game.
By the Numbers
· 1st – Career start for Bryanna Coffman and she was 2-2 at the plate in game one.
· 4 – RBI for Sargent in game one
· 5 – Strikeouts for Munn in game one tying a career high
