Varjun making moves, Perkins remains in top 10 in second round at Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

HENDERSON, Nev. — Markus Varjun moved up 35 spots on the individual leaderboard in the second round of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate on Tuesday, while Luke Perkins remains in the top 10. Middle Tennessee men's golf dropped five spots to a tie for 10th place, however, carding a collective 293 (+5) to end the round with a team score of 578 (+6) at Reflection Bay Golf Club.
Varjun made six birdies in a round of 69 (-3) Tuesday. He moved up from a tie for 52nd to a tie for 17th at 142 (-2) for the tournament.
Perkins, playing as an individual, carded two birdies and two bogeys in an even-par round of 72 (E). He heads into the third round tied for eighth at 141 (-3).
Kevin Jegers shot a 72 (E) for the second straight round, finishing the day in a tie for 33rd at 144 (E). He picked up four birdies in the effort.
Michael Barnard is tied for 43rd through two rounds with a score of 145 (+1) after a round of 75 (+3) Tuesday. Sheldon McKnight, also playing as an individual, shot a 73 (+1) in the second round to match Barnard at 1-over for the tournament.
Owen Stamper is tied for 64th at 147 (+3). Gavin Clements rounds out the Blue Raider lineup in 124th place.

"Not the move we wanted to make today. We got behind the eight ball out of the gates and just could not get anything going. Great round from Markus today, and we needed it! I still think this team is going to do some really good things this semester. The goal tomorrow is to get a good number and move up the board."
