Blue Raiders fall to Skyhawks 14-2

MARTIN, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee dropped the opening game to UT Martin 14-2 on Friday afternoon.
The Skyhawks (5-5) struck first in the opening frame thanks to a pair of two-out hits. The Blue Raiders (3-6) responded in the second inning with a Trace Phillips solo shot to right field to tie things up at one-run apiece.
After plating a run in the third, UT Martin exploded for five runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead over MTSU. The Skyhawks would go on to win 14-2.
Tristan Walton (2-1) earned the win for the the Skyhawks. Kota Sato (0-1) was tabbed with the loss.
Jackson Galloway, Phillips, Briggs Rutter, Cale Vinson and Brett Vondohlen each collected a hit for the Blue Raiders, while Phillips had a pair of RBI.

14: MTSU gave up 14 runs on the day, the second most of the season.
