Blue Raiders take third at Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. — Middle Tennessee men's golf took third place at the Schenkel Invitational for the second year in a row. The Blue Raiders combined for a team score of 843 (-21) as four players finished the event under par.
Michael Barnard and Owen Stamper tied for 11th individually at 210 (-6). Stamper shot a 70 (-2) in Sunday's third round, leading the team with six birdies. Barnard carded a 72 (E), making par on 14 holes.
Markus Varjun tied for 21st at 212 (-4). His score of 70 (-2) in the third round matched his lowest of the tournament.
Kevin Jegers slipped to a tie for 30th at 214 (-2) after a round of 76 (+4) Sunday.
Luke Perkins rounded out the Blue Raider lineup in a tie for 62nd with a score of 221 (+5).
By the Numbers
14 – Stamper led the Blue Raiders with 14 birdies in the tournament.
-5 – MTSU was 5-under on par 3 holes for the tournament, the best mark in the field.
3 – The Blue Raiders' three eagles were one shy of the most in the field.

- No. 17 Florida, the defending national champion, won the tournament at 837 (-27).
- South Carolina's Nathan Franks was the individual champion at 203 (-13).
- The Blue Raiders are back on the course April 5-7 at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship.
