Middle Tennessee drops series at Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Middle Tennessee softball (15-20, 3-6) dropped its game on Sunday at Jacksonville State (12-20, 2-4).
Jacksonville State threatened to score early with two runners on in the first inning, but Kamryn Carcich was able to get out of the inning scoreless. Carcich made her 14th start and looked to claim her CUSA league tying lead 10th win.
The Gamecocks started Kat Carter in the circle for Sunday's Series finale. Carter struck out nine Blue Raider batters in game two on Saturday.
MTSU jumped ahead early thanks to Ansley Blevins third home run of the weekend that came in the top of the second inning. Jacksonville State would answer with two-runs in the third inning to take the lead away from MTSU.
A lead off double in the fourth for the Gamecocks would come around to score and extend the lead 3-1.
Blevins would hit her fourth home run of the weekend in the fifth inning to trim the lead 3-2. The Jasper, Tenn. native second multi-home run game of the weekend.
Shelby Echols and Amaya Harris would start the sixth inning with base hits to put runners on for Riley Gilmore to deliver the game tying RBI.
The Gamecocks would hit a walk off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to win the series finale 4-3 and take the series.
