Softball Walks-off FIU to seal the series

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball (17-21, 5-7) won game three on Saturday over FIU (14-20, 2-7) on a walk-off in the ninth inning. Ansley Blevins would total five RBI with two home runs in Saturday's game.

MTSU struck first in game three of the series on Saturday with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Blevins would deliver her league leading sixth home run in conference play.

FIU answered back in the second inning with a pair of runs after a pair of errors by the Blue Raider defense.

Back and forth early in this game as MTSU would explode for five runs in the second inning. Blevins seventh conference play home run and tenth of the season would be a grand slam to put the Blue Raiders up 5-2. Julia Garcia then immediately followed with a solo shot of her own and increase the lead to 6-2 after two innings of play.

The third inning on Saturday was the first scoreless inning by both teams.

FIU would get a run back on a RBI double in the top of the fourth. Starter for MTSU, Kamryn Carcich was able to get out of a two-out jam in fifth inning leaving two Panther baserunners on-base.

Mary Martinez would take over for Carcich in the sixth inning after FIU added another run to cut the lead 6-4. Carcich threw 5.1 innings with four earned runs on nine hits.

Echols picked up her 44^th hit of the season, the second most in CUSA to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. Garcia would then pick up her third hit of the game and score Echols to the Blue Raiders the late game lead 7-6.

Claire Woods would take over in circle for Martinez in the top of the seventh. FIU evened the game at seven headed into the bottom of the seventh. MTSU was unable to end the game in regulation and would send the series finale into extras.

In the bottom of the ninth Lexi Medlock was able to reach on an error by the Panthers. Echols would then drive her in to seal the series finale.
