Blue Raiders defeat UTEP 4-1 on Saturday

EL PASO, Texas — Middle Tennessee women's tennis headed to El Paso, Texas to take the UTEP Miners on Saturday. MTSU earned their second Conference USA win of the season by defeating the Miners 4-1.

The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point with wins on court No. 1 and No. 3. Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sana Garakani won 6-2 on court No. 1 against Lebisova and Szczepanska. On court No. 3, Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Ilaria Sposetti claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Dibattista and Antione.

The Miners took a point on court No. 2. Garakani defeated Mencaglia 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 1 to give MTSU a 2-1 lead. On court No. 3, Lena Peyer tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win against Telzynska. Chaphalkar clinched the win for the Blue Raiders on court No. 6 with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory over Hennicaux.
