Blue Raiders wrap up outdoor meet in California

AZUSA, Calif. – Middle Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams completed this weekend's meet at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
A pair of nationally ranked times highlighted the competition this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Odilia Jepchumba and Faith Nyathi both ran top-40 times in NCAA in the women's 5k.
Men's Top Performances
· On Friday, Vincent Yegon ran a personal best in the 10,000-meter run in his 15th place finish of 30:04.96s.
· Habtamu Geta added another personal best in the 5k on Friday in his eighth-place finish of 14:09.57s.
· Wail Bourahli also ran a personal best time in the 800-meter on Friday of 1:50.06s.
· Brian Kiptoo would place 44th in the men's 1500-meter on Saturday night with a personal best time of 3:48.30. The fastest time for men's team in the 1500-meter this season.
· Carmelo Cannizaro finished top-100 out of 255 entries in the 1500-meter with a personal best of 3:50.55s.
Women's Top Performances
· Purity Sanga ran a top-50 time in the nation on Thursday in the 10k of 33:23.07s.
· Nancy Maiyo would run a personal best on Friday in the 5k of 16:55.91s to finish 17th.
· Friday night featured the women's 5k group that included Jepchumba and Nyathi who both ran top-40 times in NCAA. Jepchumba placed second with a personal best time of 16 minutes flat. Nyathi placed fourth with a personal best of 16:03.77s.
· Jepchumba would win heat number two on Saturday night in the 1500-meter for the fifth fastest time overall of 4:24.89s.
· Nyathi placed 24th overall in the 1500-meter at 4:27.49s for a new personal best.
· Leonie Beu tied her previous personal best in the 400-meter 10th place finish of 54.25s. She would also run a personal best in the 200-meter of 24.19s to finish 13th.
· Eleanor Towe finished first place in the women's 1500 meter on Saturday night with a personal best 4:29.72s. The fastest time this season for the women's team in the 1500-meter.
Next up
The men's and women's teams will compete at the Music City Challenge and the Penn Relays on April 25-17.
