Women’s Tennis heads to Miami for CUSA Tournament

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis travels to Miami, Fla. for the 2024 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship from Thursday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21.
The Blue Raiders will be the 6-seed and face 3-seed Jacksonville State in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 19 at 12 p.m. CT. If MTSU wins, they will face the winner of the 2-seed Liberty and 7-seed New Mexico State on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. CT.
The Blue Raiders finished regular season with a 4-0 sweep over conference foe Sam Houston.
MTSU opened the season with a 4-3 win over Jacksonville State in Starkville, Miss. Eloise Swarbrick fought back from down 2-5 in the third to force a third set tiebreak and clinched the win for the Blue Raiders winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-6.
As a team, MTSU has totaled 58 singles wins so far this season. Sana Garakani and Lena Peyer lead the team with 11 singles wins each.
In doubles, the Blue Raiders earned 25 doubles wins this season. Garakani, Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Swarbrick lead the team with eight doubles victories.
Match 24: Middle Tennessee (11-12, 3-3 CUSA) vs. Jax State (15-10, 2-3 C-USA)

- Friday's matchup will be the third meeting all time between the two programs, MTSU leads the series 2-0.
- Coach Bailey-Duvall is 1-0 against the Gamecocks.
Scouting the Gamecocks
- Jax State is 11-7 on the season and 2-1 in CUSA. In their last match, JSU defeated Sam Houston 4-1 on the road.
- The Gamecocks return seven players from last season. The returners combined for 76 singles wins and 64 doubles wins.
- JSU added a transfer to this year's squad.
