WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Through one round of the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional, Middle Tennessee's Owen Stamper is three over par and tied for 40th at the Kampen-Cosler Course.
Stamper, a senior and Scottsville, Kentucky native, carded a 75 (+3) on the 7,465-yard course.
He began the day even through four holes but bogeyed No. 5, 7 and 9 to go with a double bogey on the sixth hole. Stamper then stormed back with seven consecutive holes of par or better on the back nine, including four birdies.
Stamper will tee off at 9:42 a.m. ET on Tuesday, and he'll be paired with Illinois State's Valentin Peugnet (T48, +4) and Tennessee Tech's Jackson Skeen (T48, +4).
Coach's Comments: Assistant Coach Payne Denman
"I know it wasn't the start Owen wanted. He was just a little bit off on the front nine today, and this course really exposes any errant shot. However, he fought back well and got some momentum going his way on the back nine. He enjoys the challenge, and I think he'll play well these next two days."
