MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team (1-3-0) is set for its third and final game of the current three-match homestand, as the Blue Raiders take on the Bellarmine Knights (1-2-0) on Sunday, Sept. 1 at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
History vs. Bellarmine
Similarly to their matchup on Thursday against North Alabama, the Blue Raiders will face Bellarmine for the first time in program history on Sunday.
About Middle Tennessee
Against North Alabama, for the third time in four games this season, the Blue Raiders struck first with a goal from freshman forward Lexi Dendis in the opening scoring opportunity of the game in the 11th minute, giving the home side an early 1-0 advantage. That goal served as the first goal of Dendis' career.
Middle Tennessee ended the night with one goal on nine total shots, and five on target. Dendis opened her career scoring account with her unassisted goal. Along with goalkeeper Demi Gronauer, three other Blue Raiders played the full 90 minutes in defenders Sadie Sterbenz, Sascha Nielsen and Emma Brown.
The Blue Raiders will look to close out their first homestand of the 2024 season with a win over the Knights, which would improve their overall record to 2-3 with just three matches remaining until the start of Conference USA play on Sept. 19 vs. FIU.
About Bellarmine
The Knights enter the weekend at 1-2 on the season, coming off a narrow, 1-0 loss to in-state rival Morehead State on Thursday.
Bellarmine's other results through the opening three weeks of the season are a 7-0 loss to Louisville on Aug. 15 and an 8-0 win against Asbury on Aug. 25.
In that 8-0 win, senior midfielder/forward Emma Nicholson scored a career-high four goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Rachel Skyberg recorded her first career brace, as well as the third and fourth goals of her career.
