Blue Raiders Open Season at Argent Financial Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders are set to open the 2024-25 season for the second consecutive year at the Argent Financial Classic on Sunday, Sep. 8.
When: Sunday, September 8 – Tuesday, September 10
Where: Squire Creek Country Club (Choudrant, La.)
Format: 54 holes (18 holes each day)
Course Info: Par-72; 7,105 yards
Tournament Notes
The Field: The 17-team field at the 2024 Argent Financial Classic includes Abilene Christian, Houston, Jax State, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisnana, Middle Tennessee, Nicholls, North Texas, Rice, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, UAB, ULM, WKU and host institution LA Tech.
The Lineup: Markus Varjun, JJ Zimmer, Carter Maneth, Sheldon McKnight, Owen Queener and Charlie Bell as an Individual.
Tee Times: The Blue Raiders will tee off from 8:20 a.m. - 9 a.m. CT on Sunday, Sep. 8. MTSU will be paired with LA Tech and Houston in the opening round.
Last Year: Owen Stamper used a third-round score of four-under-par 68 to eclipse his previous personal best 54-hole total by two strokes Tuesday and claim the individual title at the 2023 Argent Financial Classic. His 13-under-par 203 is tied for the third-lowest 54-hole total in program history.
Stamper entered the day one stroke behind Houston's Santiago De La Fuente. The two were paired together in the third round and were tied through the first 10 holes of the day. An eagle on the par-5 11th hole gave Stamper a one-stroke lead, and he extended his lead with a birdie on 17. The Scottsville, Ky., native finished the tournament with 14 birdies and was one of just three players in the field with multiple birdies.
MTSU finished fifth as a team, moving up four spots in the third round with a score of five-under-par 283. The Blue Raiders finished the tourney with a team score of five-under-par 859.

"I am excited to get the fall going," said Head Coach Mark McEntire. "We have some new faces, and I can't wait to watch them play. Squire Creek is an excellent test and a great place to start the season."
