Blue Raiders notch first two wins of the season against Lipscomb and UT Southern

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— Following a hard-fought match against Tennessee this past Thursday, Middle Tennessee finished out the week by winning it's first two matches of the season in a doubleheader against in-state foe's Lipscomb and UT Southern, beating both teams by scores of 7-0.
Middle Tennessee had two doubles pairings to get their first wins of the year to clinch the doubles point against Lipscomb. Rostislav Halfinger and Kacper Szymkowiak had a dominant 6-0 win on court three to begin the afternoon while Shu Matsuoka and Jakub Kroslak clinched on court two with a 6-4 win.
In singles action, senior Rostislav Halfinger's first singles win of the year clinched the match for Middle Tennessee on court six with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lipscomb's Oliver Thoeny. Ondrej Horak's first singles victory of the year came in dominant fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court four while teammate Shu Matsuoka moved to 2-0 on the year in singles play on court two with a 6-2, 6-2 win of his own. On the odd numbered courts, the finishes came in fast and furious as Jakub Kroslak clinched a 6-2, 6-3 win on court three just prior to Kacper Szymkowiak's second singles win of the season 6-2, 6-1 on court five. No. 98 Karim Al-Amin rounded out the match on court one with a 6-4, 6-2 win in his first singles win of the year.
The Blue Raiders didn't lose any momentum as they once again took the doubles point in the second match of the day against UT Southern. Playing as the first doubles pair against the Firehawks, Jakub Kroslak and Shu Matsuoka stormed to a quick 6-0 win while Rostislav Halfinger and Kacper Szymkowiak won their second doubles match of the day to clinch the point 6-2 on court two.
Middle Tennessee was strong in singles play, with Karim Al-Amin clinching the match on court one with a 6-1, 6-3 win over UT Southern's Luis De Santana. Igor Mandou Berranger and Kristian Thomas made their season debuts against UT Southern, playing on courts five and six. Mandou Berranger earned his 15th career singles win 6-0, 6-0 while Thomas got his seventh 6-1, 6-1 Playing one, two and three as they did against Lipscomb, Karim Al-Amin, Shu Matsuoka and Jakub Kroslak all won their respective matches to complete the Blue Raider sweep for the day.
