1/25/2025 2:12:00 PM | Men's Tennis
New York — The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team lost 4-0 to the University of Florida in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
In doubles, the Blue Raiders' No. 45 duo of Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak faced Florida's No. 16 pairing of Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn, falling 6-2. The Gators also claimed victory on Court 2, defeating the Blue Raiders 6-2 to clinch the doubles point.
In singles play, the Blue Raiders forced third sets on multiple courts, with Al-Amin, Jakub Korslak, and Kacper Szymkowiak battling hard to extend their matches. Igor Mandou Berranger held his own on Court 6 in just his second appearance of the season, but his match went unfinished as Florida clinched the overall win.
Quote from Coach Borendame:
"Guys battled hard until the end. I think we came out slowly in singles and hope we make some adjustments and do better on Sunday."
Up next:
The Blue Raiders will play one more match in New York. They await the result of Columbia vs. Miami (Fla.) to determine their Sunday opponent. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. CST.
