Nine Blue Raiders set personal records at Day One of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Middle Tennessee Track & Field had a successful first day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at Louisville University.
The day was highlighted by Allan Kiplagat breaking the program record in the Men's 3000m race with a time of 7:56.60. The sophomore crushed his previous best of 8:12.85 and beat the previous program record by two seconds.
The day opened with two Blue Raiders setting personal records in the Women's 200m race in Bridgett Annan and Laila Rudolph. They recorded times of 25.27s and 25.55s, respectively.
In the prelims of the Women's 60m dash, Leonie Beu qualified for the semifinals recorded a time of 7.70s. In the Men's Unseeded Long Jump, Jason Smallwood finished in third place with a distance of 6.98m. Smallwood also set a personal record in the Men's 200m race with a time of 22.53s.
In the Women's Unseeded 3000m race, Sandra Maiyo set a personal record with a 9:46.17 time. On the men's side of the event, Brian Kiptoo and Juan Lucas de la Fuente both set their own personal records with times of 8:01.76 and 8:31.95, respectively.
John Sherman set a new personal best in the Men's Seeded 200m race with a time of 21.15 seconds. In the Women's Unseeded Long Jump Laura Odivwri and Xarya Udoumana took home second and third place. Odivwri recorded a distance of 5.62m and Udoumana jumped for a distance of 5.54m.
Mackdonald Songok took home the silver medal in the Men's 800m race with a time of 1:50.26s. On the women's side of the event, Privillege Chikara set a personal record with a time of 2:05.56s.

The Blue Raiders will be back out for Day Two of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational tomorrow, Feb. 1, with the first event set to begin at 9:00 am.
