Middle Tennessee falls on the road at No. 7 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Middle Tennessee (3-1) fell in a midweek 'bout with No. 7 Michigan (4-0) in the Crisler Center on Wednesday night, 86-61.
The Blue Raiders came out of the gate firing from beyond the arc by making three threes in the first four minutes of play in which MTSU led by two, going into the first media timeout. Kamari Lands led the attack with two and Chris Loofe added on a three of his own.
After the first media timeout, the Wolverines took a 16-2 run for the next six minutes to take the commanding 12 point lead, however MTSU didn't back down. The Blue Raiders fought for their best look by living behind the three point line in the first 10 minutes of the game by putting up 16 shots, 12 of which were three pointers.
In the following seven minutes of action, Alec Oglesby would make back-to-back three pointers, while the rest of the squad followed suit with a Jahvin Carter mid-range shot and Jarred Hall three pointer to bring the game within one.
Following another Wolverine run, MTSU fought back once again to take a six point deficit into the break. Middle Tennessee held Michigan to just 36 points at the break, second least this far into the 2025-26 season. Lands led the scoring with eight, followed by Oglesby with six, and Alston and Carter with five a piece.
Coming out of the break, the Wolverines came out hot and got out to a 21 point lead with 10 minutes to go in the game.
Middle Tennessee would end up dropping 86-61 to the number seven ranked team in the country to give the Blue Raiders their first loss of the year.

"There are a lot of teams that when you're on the road against a high-level team, you get down that early, and you can start playing frustrated basketball and it spirals quickly, but we fought back in the first half … We had some moments in the second half where we let the physicality get us frustrated, and we had a few frustrating possessions in the second half."
