NEW ORLEANS – Middle Tennessee turned the tide with a 6-1 win over Tulane.

The doubles point came down to Court 3, where Rostislav Halfinger and Shu Matsuoka once again delivered for the Raiders, securing a 6-3 win over Hady El Kordy and AJ Mercer to give Middle Tennessee a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Szymkowiak got things rolling for the Raiders in singles, earning a 6-3, 6-1 straight-set victory—his 12th win of the season—improving his overall record to 12-2. Matsuoka followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Friedler to push the lead to 3-0. Tulane picked up its lone point on Court 2, where El Kordy defeated Al-Amin 6-4, 6-4.
Kroslak clinched the match for Middle Tennessee with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory over Gaudin, making the overall score 4-1. Horak added a 6-3, 7-5 win for his ninth victory of the season, while Halfinger, a last-minute substitute on Court 6, battled through three sets to win 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, securing the 6-1 victory.
The win snapped a three-match losing streak for Middle Tennessee, improving its record to 10-9 on the season.
From Coach Jimmy Borendame
"It's been a week. We didn't get great weather all trip. We played and practiced in mini-hurricanes and dealt with non-stop rain. I asked the guys to step up, and they did. If we can deal with all the adversity of this week, we clearly got better and tougher. In my opinion, we have at least two more levels we can raise our game. This week, we will push hard on and off the court since we don't have a match."
Up Next
Middle Tennessee will have a week off before facing in-state rival Memphis on March 30.
