MTSU coughs up eight runs in one inning to give up lead

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee softball blew an 8-1 lead to the Sam Houston Bearkats on Sunday, March 16.

The Blue Raiders (12-16, 3-3) jumped out to an 8-1 lead through five innings, led by four home runs hit by Lexi Medlock, Julia Garcia and two from Ansley Blevins. Blevins has a monster day, going 3/3 with a walk and four RBIs. Ultimately, the Bearkats (13-15, 3-3) closed the gap in one inning.

Blevins is one of the hottest hitters in Conference USA currently as she has raised her batting average to over .300 for the first time this season, a remarkable feat given she started the season 1/27. Her eight home runs on the season ranks third in CUSA.

1.178: Ansley Blevins has raised her season OPS to a remarkable 1.178.
6: It was the first loss for MTSU when scoring six or more runs after winning the first four when scoring six.
2.45: Leila Ammon rocks a 2.45 ERA, the best among Conference USA freshmen.
