Blue Raiders’ comeback falls short against SEMO, 11-7

Middle Tennessee (12-8) fell behind early, 7-0, to the SEMO Redhawks, but never let the deficit get to them.
It took until the fifth inning for MTSU to record a hit, with a Matt Wolfe single, and that opened the gates for the Raider offense. In the sixth inning, Tyler Minnick and Brett Vondohlen hit back-to-back home runs to start the scoring. A series of singles and walks loaded the bases for Eston Snider, who hit an RBI infield single to cut the lead to three, 7-4, heading into the seventh inning.
SEMO added two more runs in the top of the seventh, but MTSU responded in the eighth.
Wolfe led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Hayden Miller single, putting two runners on base for pinch-hitter Kenny McKinley, who hit a home run to left-center field to bring the score within two, 9-7.
The Redhawks added two more runs in the top of the ninth, securing an 11-7 victory over Middle Tennessee.

MTSU will hit the road for just the second time this year to open Conference USA play against No. 15 Dallas Baptist. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 21, at 6 p.m.
