MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders are back on the road, traveling to Lynchburg, Virginia for two matches against Conference USA opponents Liberty and UTEP.
Middle Tennessee is coming off a spring break trip to Orlando, where the team picked up two wins against Hillsborough Community College and Navy. The Raiders defeated Hillsborough 4-1 and capped off their Florida doubleheader with a 4-1 victory over Navy.
MTSU looks to keep its momentum going against two teams capable of making deep runs in the CUSA tournament. The Raiders will face Liberty first, followed by UTEP on Saturday.
Taking on the Flames
Middle Tennessee opens the weekend against Liberty, a team that has won the last two meetings between the programs. The Flames lead the all-time series 2-1 and claimed a 4-0 win over MTSU in last season's matchup.
Liberty has had a slow start to the season, posting a 6-10 record. The Flames are coming off a 5-2 loss to Richmond on March 16. Despite their record, Liberty has played several close matches, often falling just short in doubles or singles play.
The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Facing UTEP
After the Liberty match, the Blue Raiders will shift their focus to UTEP to close out their opening weekend of CUSA competition. The Miners are a potential contender for the later rounds of the conference championship in April.
UTEP enters the match with a 6-5 record and is coming off a 4-1 loss to fellow CUSA opponent Western Kentucky. The Miners secured the doubles point in that match but were unable to close it out in singles play.
The match against UTEP is set for Saturday at 11 a.m. CST in Lynchburg.
