Middle Tennessee Drops Both Matches vs. FIU and Ball State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee wrapped up a doubleheader against FIU and Ball State on Saturday, falling in both matches, 4-0 and 4-3.
vs. FIU
The Blue Raiders had a slow start in doubles play but remained competitive. On court one, Eloise Swarbrick and Lena Peyer fell 6-2, while FIU clinched the doubles point on court two with a 6-4 win over Alessia Truden and Rutuja Chaphalkar, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
FIU secured the match in singles with straight-set victories on courts two, three, and five, sealing a 4-0 win over Middle Tennessee.
vs. Ball State
The Blue Raiders bounced back in doubles play, with No. 59 Truden and Chaphalkar setting the tone with a dominant 6-1 win. Cassidy Mataia and Ilaria Sposetti clinched the doubles point for Middle Tennessee with a 6-2 victory over Ella Hazelbaker and Elena Malykh.
Leading 1-0, the Blue Raiders carried momentum into singles.
Ball State struck first with a win on court five, but Truden put Middle Tennessee back in front with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Malykh on court one, marking her eighth win of the season and moving her within two victories of the 100-career win milestone. The Cardinals responded with wins on courts two and four before Zenn Lim tied the match at 3-3 with a 7-5, 6-1 win.
The deciding point came down to court three, where Peyer battled through a seven-point tiebreaker despite dealing with leg cramps. She fought hard but ultimately fell 7-2 in the tiebreak, giving Ball State a 4-3 victory.
