Middle Tennessee Sweeps Doubleheader in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Blue Raiders traveled to Orlando for a Spring Break doubleheader, sweeping both matches against Hillsborough and Navy.
Vs. Hillsborough
Middle Tennessee faced the Hawks in the first match of the day, claiming yet another doubles point and showcasing the strength of their pairings.
Alessia Truden and Rutjua Chaphalker earned the first win of the match, defeating Cho Younsoo and Aisulu Zholbolat 6-1. The Hawks responded with a victory on Court 1, as Lena Peyer and Eloise Swarbrick fell 6-3. Cassidy Mataia and Ilaria Sposetti secured the doubles point for the Blue Raiders with a 7-5 win over Noah Rojas and Johana Marten.
Riding that momentum into singles play, Middle Tennessee took control early.
Mataia continued her strong play, winning in straight sets over Younsoo 6-2, 6-2. The victory improved her record to 5-4 overall and .500 on Court 5. Zenn Lim followed with another straight-sets win, defeating Salomea Jasiczek 6-2, 6-2.
Hillsborough's lone singles victory came from Rojas, who edged out Sara Conde 3-6, 6-1, 10-6. With Middle Tennessee still leading 3-1, Sposetti clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 victory.
The 4-1 win over Hillsborough gave Middle Tennessee momentum heading into its final match of the day against Navy.
Vs. Navy
As in the first match, Truden and Chaphalker earned the opening doubles win for the Blue Raiders, shutting out Navy's Grace Li and Emily Parvathi Shanker 6-0. The victory marked the 100th career win for Truden.
Sposetti and Mataia followed with a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point after Peyer and Swarbrick fell to Olivia Fermo and Emily Tannenbaum 6-2.
Mataia once again was the first Blue Raider to win in singles, defeating Manci Pal in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. Sposetti followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win to extend Middle Tennessee's lead to 3-0.
Navy fought back with Emma Gu topping Conde 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, and Kate Lee defeating Lim 6-3, 6-4, cutting the deficit to 3-2 with two courts remaining.
Peyer sealed the win for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1) victory over Mary Bellia, giving Middle Tennessee a 4-2 win. The victory moved Peyer to 7-6 on the season and improved Middle Tennessee's overall record to 10-5.
