Blue Raiders round out weekend at two meets

John Sherman wins both 100m and 200m
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Although most of the team was at the Crimson Tide Invitational on Saturday afternoon, a few Blue Raiders took part in the Lee Invitational Meet Friday night. Among them, Allan Kiplagat won the Men's 5000m race with a new personal record of 14:05.14. Later in the meet, Faith Nyathi took home the bronze in the Women's 5000m. In the same race, Sandra Maiyo and Faith Jepchirchir both set new personal records with times of 16:32.32 and 16:54.17, respectively.
The Crimson Tide Invitational opened with Courtney Green and Zenade October setting new personal bests in the Women's 400m with times of 54.01 and 56.47, respectively. In the Women's 800m, Privillege Chikara and Lauren Cole set new personal records with times of 2:04.89 and 2:21.56, respectively.
The Men's 800m race saw six Blue Raiders set personal bests. The highlight of the event was Mackdonald Songok taking home the silver with a new PR of 1:48.50. The other Blue Raiders to set new bests were Sammy Sang, Ben Jones, Ross Evans, Spensir Stec, and Trent Rasmussen.
The Women's 200m race saw Courtney Green and Miya Carthan set personal records with times of 23.91 and 26.36, respectively.
The highlight of the meet was John Sherman taking home the gold medal in both the Men's 100m and the Men's 200m races as he continues his incredible collegiate career.
