Blue Raiders in 14th after day one of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Blue Raiders carded rounds of 18-over-par 298 and 8-over-par 288 on Saturday to sit in14th place after 36 holes at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Course. Redshirt junior Markus Varjun paced MTSU with rounds of 3-over-par 73 and 1-over-par 71 to sit tied 28th at 4-over-par 144 in the individual standings.
Kennesaw State is atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 3-under-par 557. Host institution and ninth-ranked North Carolina is second at 1-over-par 561, while Elon is third at 8-over-par 568. The Blue Raiders are in 14th place with 36-hole scores of 26-over-par 586.
North Carolina's David Ford leads the individual standings with a 36-hole total of 4-under-par 136, while Kennesaw State's Kyle Bachkosky is second at 3-under-par 137 and UCF's Hans Risvaer is third at 2-under-par 138.
The Tar Heel Intercollegiate concludes with a final round on Sunday, Apr. 13. The final round will begin at 7:15 a.m. CT.
The Lineup
• Redshirt junior Markus Varjun carded rounds of 3-over-par 73 and 1-over-par 71 to sit tied 28th at 4-over-par 144.
• After stepping in for a fellow teammate, junior Luke Perkins is tied for 28th after posting a second round of 4-over-par 74.
• Senior JJ Zimmer posted rounds of 5-over-par 75 and 1-over-par 71 to sit tied for 39th at 6-over-par 146.
• Freshman Oliver Baker is also tied for 39th at 6-over-par 146. He fired rounds of 4-over-par 74 and 2-over-par 72.
• Redshirt sophomore Jake Hopper rounded out the Blue Raider at 11-over-par 151. He posted rounds of 6-over-par 76 and 5-over-par 75.
