Middle Tennessee Falls to Louisiana Tech 4-1 in the CUSA Semifinals

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Middle Tennessee's season came to an end with a 4-1 loss to Louisiana Tech in the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament.
In doubles, the Bulldogs got off to a strong start, earning a win on Court three as Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric defeated Ilaria Sposetti and Cassidy Mataia, 6-2. The Blue Raiders answered quickly, with Alessia Truden and Rutuja Chaphalker posting a 6-2 victory over Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi.
That left the doubles point to be decided on Court one, where Middle Tennessee's Lena Peyer and Eloise Swarbrick faced Ana Rodrigues and Zoie Epps. The Bulldogs' duo clinched the point for Louisiana Tech with a 6-4 win, giving LA Tech a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Peyer earned the lone singles win for the Blue Raiders, defeating Tsironi in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, on Court three. However, the Bulldogs picked up wins on Courts two and four to extend their lead. The match was clinched on Court six, where June Vigneron rallied to beat Zenn Lim in three sets. Lim took the first set, but Vigneron came back strong to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Louisiana Tech secured the 4-1 victory and advanced to the finals to face Florida International.

While the season ends for the Blue Raiders, it was filled with notable accomplishments.
No. 71 ranking: Middle Tennessee broke into the ITA team rankings this season, reaching as high as No. 71.
No. 51 Ranked Doubles: The duo of Alessia Truden and Rutuja Chaphalker earned a ITA doubles ranking of No. 51.
17 wins: The Blue Raiders tallied 17 wins overall, including an impressive 11-2 record at home.
100 career wins: Graduate student Alessia Truden reached the 100-win milestone this season, accomplishing the feat against Navy.
ACC victory: On Jan. 24, Middle Tennessee defeated ACC opponent Louisville, 4-1.
