MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders are back in action as they face North Alabama in the UTR NIT Women's Championship.
After earning a berth in the UTR NIT, Middle Tennessee will travel to Rome, Georgia, to kick off the tournament. Following one of the program's best seasons, the Raiders are aiming to make a deep postseason run.
Scouting North Alabama
Middle Tennessee and North Alabama have met only once before, with the Blue Raiders earning a 7-0 sweep in 2019. However, the Lions pose a significant challenge this time around, entering the match with a 17-5 record and a runner-up finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference. North Alabama fell to Stetson, 4-2, in the ASUN championship match.
Four standout players to watch for the Lions are Emma Ansorge, Marta Torres, Kalais Going and Stanislava Bobrovnikova—all of whom boast double-digit singles wins and anchor the top four spots in the lineup.
In doubles play, Going, Bobrovnikova and Torres have proven to be strong performers regardless of their partner. North Alabama is expected to come out aggressively in doubles and aim to secure the opening point early.
First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Rome Tennis Center.
