MARIETTA, Ga. — Middle Tennessee opened strong but could not hold off Kennesaw State in an 11-6 loss Thursday evening at Walter Kelly Field.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 5-2 lead through the top of the fourth inning behind timely hitting and productive at-bats. Brett Rogers and Cooper Clapp played pivotal roles early, with Rogers driving in a pair and Clapp scoring twice while collecting three hits. Brett Vondohlen also chipped in with two hits and two RBIs.

After the Blue Raiders gained the upper hand with a two-run fourth, the hosts responded with four runs in the bottom half and three more in the fifth to seize control. Middle Tennessee pulled within three in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Minnick but could not close the gap further. The offense was stymied over the final three innings, striking out six times and leaving key runners stranded.

Despite tallying 10 hits, Middle Tennessee was outpaced by a 17-hit performance from the Owls.

Clapp's standout night included reaching base four times, while Hayden Miller added two hits and a run scored. On the mound, Ethan Imbimbo turned in a solid 1.2 inning appearance, striking out two without allowing a run.
