Mary Martinez named to 2025 Conference USA All-Academic Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Junior pitcher Mary Martinez has been named to the 2025 Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Friday, May 2.
Martinez holds a 3.70 ERA over 25 appearances and 58.2 innings pitched this season. She has recorded five wins and one save while holding opposing batters to a .298 average. Martinez ranks second on the team in strikeouts per seven innings, with a mark of 3.34.
The Kingwood, Texas, native's best pitching performance of the season came on March 1 against Ball State, when she tossed six innings and allowed just two earned runs in a Blue Raiders win. Martinez delivered her most memorable moment of the season on Friday, April 11, when the Blue Raiders hosted WKU at home. Entering a tied game as a pitcher, the junior stepped up to bat in the bottom of the sixth and crushed a go-ahead home run over the left field wall—then returned to the circle to protect the lead and secure the win.
Martinez is majoring in Chemistry and Agriculture and currently holds a 3.75 GPA. The pitcher was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll a few weeks back and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
