MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's season came to a close this past weekend with a 4-0 loss to Duke in the NCAA tournament. With the season officially over, here's a look back at the Blue Raiders' 2025 campaign.
Middle Tennessee finished the year with a 16-12 overall record, including a 12-5 mark at home. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranked MTSU as high as No. 36 during the season, with the team ending the year at No. 46.
The Blue Raiders notched wins over six ranked opponents and faced 14 ranked teams throughout the season. Key victories came against Miami, Arkansas, Utah, Oklahoma State, and Memphis. The win over Oklahoma State also marked head coach Jimmy Borendame's 250th career victory at MTSU.
Borendame led the Blue Raiders to their sixth consecutive Conference USA championship with a 4-0 sweep of Liberty. It was his eighth NCAA tournament appearance as MTSU's head coach and the 17th in program history. He was also named CUSA Coach of the Year for the sixth time.
In doubles play, the duo of Ondrej Horak and Karim Al-Amin finished the season ranked No. 63 nationally, reaching as high as No. 40. In addition to their regular-season success, Horak and Al-Amin captured the ITA Ohio Valley Regional title in the fall, earning a berth in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Al-Amin was the only Blue Raider to earn a national singles ranking, opening the 2025 campaign at No. 98. He was named CUSA Player of the Year after a standout season.
Seven Blue Raiders earned All-Conference honors, and several received All-Academic recognition for their work in the classroom.
It was a strong year for the Blue Raiders, who now turn their focus to the fall season and the 2026 campaign. The program looks to remain a contender in Conference USA and make a deeper run in the NCAA tournament next season.
