Coach Breeden reaches 300 win milestone in day two of Chattanooga Challenge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball (2-7) split day two of the Chattanooga Challenge. The Blue Raiders fell to Ohio (7-2) by a score of 6-3 and topped Bellarmine 6-1. The final day of the Chattanooga Challenge has been canceled due to predicted inclement weather, meaning Middle Tennessee will no longer play Chattanooga at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Despite the loss, the Blue Raiders smoked two balls out of the park to score all three of the team's runs. Lucie McDonald and Jana Want both went yard for the first time this season for Middle Tennessee's third and fourth home runs of the year. Mary Martinez got the start and pitched four innings before Elle Hildreth entered the game, where she struck out two batters in her relief effort.

The Blue Raider's rematch against the Knights was a season high team performance in the box. Middle Tennessee racked up 11 hits in six innings, spearheaded by Ansley Blevins who went three for three with two runs, three RBIs, a double and a home run. Halle Klaiber got the start in the circle and moved to 2-0 on the season after a complete seven innings of work. Klaiber recorded a career high five strikeouts, leading the team for strikeouts in a single game.

0: Halle Klaiber has yet to let up an earned run, retaining her 0.00 ERA through two complete games and 12 innings of work for the Blue Raiders.
2: Macie Harter hit her second triple in two days of play against Bellarmine, leading Middle Tennessee in the stat category.
300: With today's win over Bellarmine, head coach Jeff Breeden has reached the 300 career wins milestone at Middle Tennessee.

Up Next

The Blue Raiders head to the swamp to participate in the UF Softball Tournament. Middle Tennessee will play five games, the first of which will be against Lindenwood at 12:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 20.
