Maneth Finishes Second, Blue Raiders Take Third at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Middle Tennessee men's golf team finished third Tuesday at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club, closing the tournament with the best final round of any team in the field at 10-under par 278.

Middle Tennessee surged up the leaderboard behind strong final rounds by Connor Henry and Carter Maneth.

Maneth paced the Blue Raiders with a second-place finish at 12-under-par after rounds of 70, 66 and 68. His final-round 68 helped anchor Middle Tennessee's charge up the standings and marked one of the top individual performances of the tournament. Host Louisiana's Malan Potgieter claimed medalist honors at 15-under-par.

Connor Henry also turned in a strong showing for the Blue Raiders, tying for 12th at 5-under-par following rounds of 71, 72 and 68. Henry's 4-under-par final round helped Middle Tennessee post the lowest team score of the day.

Oliver Baker finished tied for 36th at 1-under-par with rounds of 71, 74 and 70, while Maddox Crowder tied for 49th at 2-over-par after posting rounds of 73, 73 and 72. Jake Hopper rounded out the lineup, finishing 85th at 11-over-par.

Next up, the Blue Raiders will compete in the Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern on Mar. 13-15 (Friday-Sunday) in Statesboro, Ga.

"I'm really proud of the way our guys competed today," said head coach Mark McEntire. "Another great round by Carter and a really solid week for him. Connor also played some great golf today and gave us a big round when we needed it. To post the best team round of the day in a field like this and finish third says a lot about this group. We're looking forward to carrying that momentum into the Schenkel."
