Blue Raiders host Flames for first home CUSA series

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball is hosting its first home Conference USA series against Liberty at the Blue Raider Softball Field. The Blue Raiders will take on the Flames in a three-game series, with game one slated to start at 6:00 p.m. CT on Friday, March 13.
Blue Raider Notes
- Middle Tennessee enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak after a midweek run rule victory against EKU and a road sweep of Kennesaw State to open up CUSA play last weekend.
- The Blue Raiders walked off their first game of the season against EKU on Wednesday, March 11 with a pinch-hit home run from Sabria Ritto in the bottom of the sixth. The Middle Tennessee staff pitched their fourth game of the season without allowing an earned run.
- Middle Tennessee is hitting a stride at the plate; the Blue Raiders have homered in 11 of their last 13 games, including eight consecutive and seven multi home run games.
- Lucie McDonald was named CUSA Freshman of the Week after her stellar performance at the plate throughout CUSA opening weekend. McDonald batted .400 and slugged 1.000 with three runs, four hits, two home runs and seven RBI, including a go-ahead home run in the 12th inning of game one against the Owls and a grand slam to secure the run-rule victory in game three.
- Braelyn Hall pitched a complete 12 innings in game one against Kennesaw State, the most by a Blue Raider in a single-game since Amber Baldwin threw 13.0 in the 2021 season. Hall recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in the outing and finished the weekend with a 1.08 ERA.
Flame Notes
- Liberty enters the weekend 8-15 overall and 1-2 in Conference USA play under the leadership of head coach Dot Richardson in her 13th season.
- Alexia Carrasquillo leads the Flames at the plate with a .348 average, 23 hits, four home runs and 16 RBI.
- Gabby Mike has recorded the most time in the circle for Liberty with 51.0 innings pitched and a 4.25 ERA on the season. Mike leads the team in strikeouts with 22 and holds an opponent batting average of .274.
Series History
Middle Tennessee trails Liberty in the series all time, the current record 8-4 in favor of the Flames. The last time the two teams met was in regular season Conference USA play last year, where Liberty took the series two games to one.
