MARTIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball (13-13) took down UT Martin (16-13) on the road this afternoon by a score of 7-4 at the Bettye Giles Softball Field. Today's win against the Skyhawks completes the series sweep after Middle Tennessee defeated UT Martin twice earlier this season at the Blue Raider Classic.

The game started off scoreless for two and a half frames before the Skyhawks struck first in the bottom of the third. UT Martin wouldn't hold the lead for long, as Middle Tennessee responded with a six-run fourth inning to break the game open. Jana Want kicked off the scoring for the Blue Raiders, bringing in a run on her eighth double of the season. Not long after, Sabria Ritto stepped into the box and launched a three-run home run in her first plate appearance of the game. The scoring continued with an RBI single off the bat of Kennedy Chatman, and a wild pitch brought Onnika Spencer to the plate to cap off the six-run inning for Middle Tennessee. Lexi Medlock added one more run to the Blue Raider lead with a solo home run in the top of the seventh.

Halle Klaiber got the start in the circle for the Blue Raiders, striking out one in three innings of work. Tori Coffman entered the circle in the fourth inning, striking out a season high three batters in just two innings of relief and recording the win. Braelyn Hall took over in the sixth inning, closing out the game for Middle Tennessee in a three-pitch three up, three down seventh inning.

By the Numbers

2: After her home run in her first plate appearance of today's game, Sabria Ritto homered in two consecutive plate appearances, a continuation dating back to her pinch-hit bomb against EKU on March 11.
10: Today's two-home run performance is the 10th game of the season that the Blue Raiders have hit multiple home runs.
12: 12 of the 13 Middle Tennessee batters who stepped in the box today reached base in the win against UT Martin.
