BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Middle Tennessee Softball (13-16, 3-6 CUSA) fell in its final contest with Western Kentucky (22-7, 6-3 CUSA) by a score of 7-5.

The Blue Raiders kicked off the scoring early, putting up two runs in the top of the first inning to start the game with the help of an RBI double from Onnika Spencer and an RBI single from Adaeze Nwogbo. The Hilltoppers answered in the bottom of the first with four runs of their own, adding two more in the bottom of the second. Middle Tennessee added a run to its score in the top of the third, Macie Harter stealing her way from first to third and scoring on a WKU throwing error.

The Blue Raiders wouldn't strike again until the top of the sixth, when Ansley Blevins reached on a single and Spencer followed up with a 2RBI home run past the right field wall. Middle Tennessee entered the top of the seventh down two runs; Sabria Ritto stepped up to the plate in a pinch-hitting appearance and drove a double to right field to start the inning. With Ritto in scoring position, the following three Blue Raiders went down swinging at the plate to end the game.

Elle Hildreth got the start in the circle, pitching 0.1 innings and recording the loss before Braelyn Hall entered the game in relief. Hall threw 3.2 innings, striking out four before Halle Klaiber tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to close out the game for the Blue Raiders.
