Blue Raiders Sweep CUSA Weekly Awards

DALLAS – Middle Tennessee women's basketball swept the final pair of Conference USA weekly honors as Alayna Contreras was named Conference USA Player of the Week and Blair Baugus was selected as Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Sunday afternoon.
The honor marked Blair Baugus' eighth Freshman of the Week award this season and the program's Conference USA-record 12th Freshman of the Week honor, while Alayna Contreras earned the second Player of the Week award of her career.
Contreras, a senior guard from Minneapolis, Minnesota, averaged 26.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game during the week, highlighted by a dominant Senior Day performance against Missouri State. She erupted for a season-high 31 points, the most by a Blue Raider this season, shooting 8-of-12 from the field, 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and 12-of-13 from the free throw line while adding three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Earlier in the week against FIU, Contreras totaled 22 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds while shooting 4-of-7 from three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Baugus, a freshman forward from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, turned in a strong week of her own, averaging 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 18-of-19 (94.7%) from the free throw line.
She capped the week with a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds against Missouri State, recording her 13th double-double of the season, which is tied for the third-most by a freshman nationally. Baugus was perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line in the contest and added three assists and two steals.
Against FIU, Baugus finished with 12 points, six rebounds—including five offensive boards—and two steals while shooting 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
