Blue Raiders fall to Delaware in series opener

NEWARK, Del. – Middle Tennessee Softball (15-22, 4-12 CUSA) fell to Delaware (21-19, 9-7 CUSA) in its opening game of the Conference USA series by a score of 9-1 in six innings.
The game began as a pitcher's duel, neither team scoring until the Blue Hens struck first in the bottom of the third. Middle Tennessee answered in the top of the fourth with a solo home run off the bat of Onnika Spencer. Middle Tennessee would knock a total of five hits as a team but would not score again after the top of the fourth.
Braelyn Hall got the start in the circle for the Blue Raiders, striking out three in 3.2 innings of work. Tori Coffman entered the game in relief in the fourth inning and would pitch 2.0 innings before the Blue Hens walked it off in the bottom of the sixth.
