Blue Raiders continue homestand with New Mexico State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball is set to host New Mexico State for a three-game Conference USA series at the Blue Raider Softball Field. The first game of the series is slated for Friday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. CT. The start time for the following game on Saturday has been adjusted due to expected weather in the area; Saturday's game will now begin at 1:00 p.m. instead of the original time of 4:00 p.m. Game three on Sunday, April 19 is still expected to be played at 11:00 a.m. as scheduled.
Blue Raider Notes
- Middle Tennessee enters the weekend series after defeating Tennessee State to open the five-game homestand. The Blue Raiders knocked three extra base hits, including the 45thhome run of the season off the bat of Ansley Blevins, Blevins now leading the team with nine total on the season.
- The Blue Raiders stole six bases against the Tigers, marking the first time that a Middle Tennessee team has stolen five or more bases in a single game since the 2024 season. Macie Harter leads the team in stolen bases with 16, that figure fourth in Conference USA.
- Braelyn Hall struck out a tied career high seven batters, Hall and Elle Hildreth combining for the most strikeouts by the Blue Raider staff in a single game this season against Tennessee State. Hall has now struck out 90 batters on the season, the fifth most in Conference USA.
- The Blue Raiders turned their 16th double play of the season against the Tigers; Middle Tennessee has turned the fourth most double plays in CUSA.
Aggie Notes
- New Mexico State enters the weekend 21-20 overall with a 11-7 mark in Conference USA play under the leadership of Benet Higgs in her first season.
- Faith Aragon and Kendal Lunar lead the Aggies at the plate, Aragon leading New Mexico State with a .403 batting average and 52 hits, Lunar leading the team with 13 home runs and 34 RBI.
- Aragon also dominates in the circle for New Mexico State, posting a team best 2.57 ERA and 176 strikeouts on the season.
Series History
The series between Middle Tennessee and New Mexico State is 24-11 all-time in favor of the Blue Raiders. The last time both teams met was in Las Cruces where the Aggies swept the series. Middle Tennessee is 10-1 against New Mexico State at the Blue Raider Softball Field.
