Hopper takes home Grover Page Classic individual honors as Blue Raiders finish JT Poston Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- Blue Raider Fifth Year golfer Jake Hopper took home individual champion honors at the Grover Page Classic after handing in a four-under 68, bringing him to 212 in the three-round tournament. This marks the first individual win of Hopper's career, and a strong start to his final collegiate season.
Hopper's win marks the first for Middle Tennessee since last fall, when former Blue Raider Carter Maneth took home the individual crown at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic. Hopper jumped 15 positions on the final day of the tournament to take home a medal.
While Hopper's win was the headline of the day for Blue Raider golf, there was plenty going on with three other Middle Tennessee golfers in Jackson, Tennessee along with a team-event finishing up at the JT Poston Invitational. Overall, the Blue Raiders finished T13 as a group, with a team total of 848 strokes.
Clay Pendergrass had the low round of the day for the group in North Carolina, shooting 18 holes of bogey free golf for a 68. Connor Henry was the Blue Raiders' highest finisher, coming in at T25 at three-under total. This included an even-par day to finish it off.
Freshman Stiles Hunter impressed on the final day of his first collegiate tournament, including his second eagle on par-four hole two in as many days. Overall, Hunter shot even after finishing his third round one-under. Hunter finished T48.
Rounding out the field at the Poston Invitational were Maddox Crowder and Stanley White. Crowder rolls in T54 after a three-over third round, while White finishes seven-over par for the tournament at T85.
Oliver Baker followed behind Hopper at the Page Classic, finishing one-under after a very consistent tournament. Baker shot two rounds at 71, with a par-72 sandwiched between them to finish P6.
Cooper Solberg and Dylan Ramsey close out the group of individuals. Solberg closed the tournament with a 73, bringing his total to 219 finishing T20. Ramsey turned in an 83 for his third round, placing him T56.
Coach's Comments (Head coach Mark McEntire)
"I was disappointed with the finish this week," McEntire said. "I was really happy with the qualifying and preparation leading up to this tournament. It was great to see good rounds from both Clay Pendergrass and Stiles Hunter today."
"We have a quick turnaround before heading to Rice," McEntire added. "We will make a line up change with Jake and Ollie playing well in Jackson. We will clean up a few things and get ready for a great week!"
Next Up: The Blue Raiders will be back in action on September 21 and 22, heading to Houston, Texas for the Bayou City Collegiate.
