Henry's hot start has Blue Raiders sitting top 5

HOUSTON- Middle Tennessee men's golf finished day one of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in fourth place following a two hour and 22 minute inclement weather delay leading to the second round being suspended due to darkness.
The Blue Raiders were originally scheduled to play two full rounds on the day, but round two was suspended in progress as the sun set on the Houston area and Westwood Golf Course.
It quite literally rained on senior Connor Henry's parade, as the Blue Raider sitting T2 on the leaderboard was sitting six-under through seven holes in round two. The senior finished strong,
at two-order on the round, after carding an impressive five-under 67 in the first round. This included seven birdies for Henry.
Slotting in behind Henry was freshman Stiles Hunter, sitting plus-one for the tournament. Hunter was shooting even in round two, sitting T32 in the field.
Clay Pendergrass had a resurgent round two, sitting at three-under with play suspended. Pendergrass is fighting back from a tumultuous first round after shooting a seven-over 79.
Jake Hopper, Maddox Crowder and Oliver Baker are tied for T57 at plus-five.
Baker, who is competing as an individual, is one over through 10 holes in round two. On the flip side, Hopper is plus-four in round two after shooting a plus-one 73 in round one.
Crowder is even with his teammates after shooting plus-four in round one, and is plus-five overall.
Coach's comments (Head coach Mark McEntire)
"It was a fantastic day from Connor Henry," McEntire said. "He's a really really good player with a tremendous future. On the team side, we're still needing a five guy to step up. We played four legged in the first round and to put yourself in position, you need all five guys in play. The rain delay was very good for us. We were able to settle down and get some rest came out and made some birdies. The goal tomorrow is to come out and finish, make some more birdies, get in contention and have a chance to win in the final round tomorrow."
Next up: The Blue Raiders will resume play tomorrow, with round two expected to resume at 8:00 a.m. The third and final round is expected to be completed from the Westwood Golf Course tomorrow afternoon.
