Young comes to MTSU by way of College Station, Texas. serving as a member of the Texas A&M Football Strength and Conditioning staff, under the direction of Tommy Moffitt. Young worked primarily with the Defensive line and Linebackers, as well as worked directly with the team physical therapist to program and operate all return-to-play training.
Prior to Texas A&M, Young worked as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Missouri State University. Young was eventually named Interim Director of Football Strength and Conditioning, becoming one of the youngest directors in Division 1 football.
Young also served as an intern at both the University of Miami and the University of Oregon, under the tutelage of Aaron Feld.
Young graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Exercise Science and a minor in History. During his time in Ann Arbor, Young competed as a member of Michigan’s Collegiate Rugby team, receiving caps as both a Prop and Flanker. Young led the Big Ten in takeaways in 2021, receiving Man of the Match honors, and was named to the 2021 Big Ten All-Tournament team.
Young, a native of Chicago, spent most of his formative years in the suburb of Naperville Illinois and attended Naperville Central High School. Young hails from a family of athletes with his Father and Grandfather having both wrestled collegiately at Western Illinois University and the University of Illinois respectively. In addition, Young’s grandfather and namesake, Bill Young, was inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2006, for his accomplishments as a wrestler and as the Head Wrestling Coach at Naperville Central High School for over 30 years.
