Nina Davis begins her fifth season as an assistant coach at Middle Tennessee in 2024-25 following a heralded career at Baylor University.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Davis brings a wealth of experience to the Lady Raider bench, boasting more than 20 years of basketball experience from coaching, playing and broadcasting the game.
The rising star named Thirty Under 30 by WBCA in March 2023, representing 30 of the top assistant coaches in the nation under the age of 30.
Davis is involved with every aspect of the program, including on-floor coaching, player development and recruiting. Her excellent leadership skills and knowledge of the game are great assets, along with having learned the game from hall of fame coaches.
Head Coach Rick Insell lauds Davis as a premier coach of post players because she understands what it takes to play the position at a high level as she did as a player at Baylor.
Led by Davis, MTSU’s versatile group of post players consisted of Anastasiia Boldyreva, Courtney Whitson and Kseniya Malashka; three impactful pieces of MTSU’s deep WNIT Tournament run in 2022 and a NCAA Tournament berth in 2023.
Davis enjoyed a brilliant four-year career at Baylor where she played for Hall of Fame Coach Kim Mulkey and helped lead the Bears to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Baylor reached the Elite Eight in each of Davis’ four seasons.
Davis was instrumental in helping lead Baylor to a 134-15 record during her playing career, averaging 16.3 points per game. She is the only player in Big 12 history to be named to the All-Tournament team all four years and was named Big 12 Championship MVP twice. She finished her career with more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, which is fifth all time at Baylor for both categories.
Davis’ was a two-time Associated Press All-American and was also named to All-American teams by USBWA, WBCA and Wooden Award. She was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2014 and the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2015, as well as a three-time All-Big 12 first team honoree.
In 2015, Davis represented her country on the USA Basketball Team which captured the gold medal with a perfect 6-0 record at the World University games in Gwangju, South Korea.
Upon completion of her collegiate career, Davis played for the Austria Flying Foxes in 2017-18, where she helped lead the team to the regular season and cup championships. Davis was named MVP of both.
Davis opted to begin a professional broadcasting career after one season at the professional level. She broadcasted the NCAA Women’s Final Four and National Championship with ESPN in 2019 before joining the FOX Sports team.
Davis was a highly-decorated prep standout at Memphis Central where she was the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year and a Parade All-American in 2013. She was named 2013 Class AAA Miss Basketball when she averaged 28.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.5 blocks. Davis scored more than 2,000 points and pulled more than 1,000 rebounds during her career. She led Memphis Central into the Class AAA state tournament all four years, winning the championship in 2013.
