Matt Posey enters the 2025-26 season in his seventh year full-time at Middle Tennessee, serving currently as the Associate Director for Athletic Communications, in charge of the athletic department’s Creative Services and secondary contact for the Blue Raider football program.
Posey supervises Athletic Communications Assistants, all Creative Assistants, and student workers for the Blue Raider Athletic Communications office, is the athletic department’s lead graphic designer and photographer, and oversees social media strategy and execution as well as all creative video efforts. Posey’s work in 2024-25 included the creation, production and direction of podcasts designed to highlight the personalities of Blue Raider student-athletes, the Glass House Hoops Podcast as well as football podcast Nick & Roman’s Empire, all of which can be found on Spotify and YouTube.
As part of MTSU’s celebration of the Murphy Center’s 50th anniversary, Posey co-directed and executive produced “Reflections: Inside the Glass House,” a 45-minute documentary highlighting the Historic Murphy Center. The documentary was featured in a True Blue TV special edition of Out of the Blue, which won Gold in the Telly Awards in the category of Best History Programming – General Television.
Additional video directed and produced by Posey includes an in-depth facility tour of the MTSU Outdoor Tennis Complex as well as a facility tour of the Stephen and Denise Smith Student-Athlete Performance Center.
Posey’s design work is featured in nine of MTSU’s primary athletics facilities. His photography experience includes documenting the 2022 Hawai’i Bowl victory, three Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball tournaments, two NCAA Tournament appearances for MTSU Men’s Tennis, and two NCAA Tournament appearances for MTSU Women’s Basketball.
Additionally, he has led or assisted with the media relations efforts of two CUSA Women’s Tennis Championships, three CUSA Men’s Tennis Championships, and the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Prior to his promotion to Associate Director of Athletic Communications, Posey served as Social Media Coordinator for the department, also becoming MTSU Athletics’ lead graphic designer and photographer in July 2021.
Before being promoted to Social Media Coordinator, Posey was an Athletic Communications Assistant for the Blue Raiders, serving as primary contact for softball, secondary contact for men’s basketball, and tertiary contact for football for two seasons. During his two years as primary softball contact, the Blue Raider softball Instagram account saw the second-largest percentage increase of followers in CUSA (108.95%), third-largest increase by number of followers in CUSA (1,439), second-most interactions in CUSA (48,785), and most video views in CUSA (75,508).
Posey began his tenure in MTSU's Athletic Communications office as a student worker throughout his undergraduate and graduate school years, serving as the primary contact for the men’s and women’s tennis programs for three seasons.
As a graduate student, Posey was also the Assistant Director of the MTSU College of Behavioral and Health Sciences Center for Student Coaching and Success, where he oversaw day-to-day operations of the Center, including marketing and leading student coaching sessions.
Posey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from MTSU in December 2017. As part of his graduation from the MTSU Honors College, he wrote an honors thesis titled “Leadership, Management, and Organizational Culture in High School Athletic Departments from the Perspective of Athletic Directors: A Thematic Approach.” In May 2019, Posey earned his Master of Science in Leisure and Sport Management from MTSU, writing a thesis titled “College Athletes’ Perceptions on the Effectiveness of Coaching Feedback for Leadership Development and Culture Building.”
Posey is married to the former Morgan Murphy of Smyrna, Tennessee. The couple live in Bell Buckle with their dog, Calle.
