MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball's pair of Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend, in conjunction with Family Weekend, are key to the Lady Raiders path to the Sun Belt Tournament.
Unlike past seasons, the Sun Belt Conference is only extending eight invitations to the tournament in 2002. The top two teams from each division and the next four will get their tickets stamped to play in Miami, Florida on the campus of Florida International.
The Lady Raiders open the weekend on Saturday when they host New Orleans. The Lady Patriots enter the contest 9-13 overall and 2-4 in the Sun Belt West and are led by Jennifer Cruz who is averaging 3.56 kills per game.
On Sunday, Middle Tennessee will meet another Sun Belt West foe in South Alabama. The Lady Jaguars have yet to win a Sun Belt contest this season, 0-8, and are 5-13 overall.
